About Our Trains

Mälartåg's train fleet consists of double-deckers and smaller regional trains.

Mälartåg Double-Decker

45 new regional trains of the Stadlers Dosto ER1 model will operate on all lines of the Mälartåg service.

Our new trains started to be delivered and put into service in 2019. The ER1 has 333 seats and 24 folding seats. All seats have work desks with access to wifi, reading lights and power outlets. Each train also has restrooms and space for larger luggage and bicycles. Six bicycles can be brought along if space allows.

Accessibility for Wheelchairs

All entrances have level access between platform and train. Wheelchairs are directed to intermediate carriage No 3, the so-called Flex Carriage, marked on the outside by the blue decorative color being wider and more drawn down. There is a large restroom in the carriage that can accommodate a wheelchair.

Maximum Speed

200 km/h

Mälartåg Smaller Regional Trains

Six regional trains of the Regina Model are part of the Mälartåg fleet and run mainly on the Linköping - Katrineholm - Eskilstuna - Västerås - Sala line. These trains are from the early 2000s. The X50 has between 170-195 seats and 19-29 folding seats. The trains have restrooms and wifi.

Accessibility for Wheelchairs

In one of the entrances there is a level entrance between platform and train, inside the train there is a wheelchair lift that lifts up to the other floor level.

Maximum Speed

These trains are now undergoing both interior and exterior refurbishment, including:

  • New dark grey upholstery on the seats and new carpet.
  • Environmentally friendly LED lighting and electrical outlets by the seats.
  • Hand dryers in the restrooms instead of paper towels to avoid blockage.
  • Dual pantographs, providing safer operation and reducing the risk of delays.
  • All trains will be repainted on the outside with Mälartåg's colours and logo.
